CCN - About Us

Who We Are

The Coastal Communities Network (CCN) is a community network comprised of over 240 organizations ranging from community economic development agencies, fishing industry representatives (harvesters and processors), agricultural groups, First Nations, African Nova Scotians, municipal leaders, church and community organizations, unions, universities and local community groups. Individual membership is also available.

The primary concerns of the Network are the social and economic well-being and sustainability of rural Nova Scotia. The Network emphasizes communication, education, dialogue and exchange, and focuses on the identification and development of specific strategies that can be undertaken by local community organizations to address and respond to these concerns.

Communities In Action

Since being established in 1992 the CCN has been actively involved in assisting rural communities throughout the province to deal more effectively with the social and economic problems. In addition to regular monthly meetings of Network members, the CCN has sponsored, coordinated and funded a series of conferences and workshops to assist communities in their efforts to plan specific actions for survival, development and sustainability.

The Power of Networking

The strength of the Network is its membership which is rooted in Nova Scotia's rural communities. By sharing experiences; providing moral support and helping to identify resources the Network successfully assists organizations in coastal and rural Nova Scotia to grapple with issues of adjustment and development.

The CCN welcomes the participation of any organization that represents the interests of a rural community and is interested in networking with similar organizations in the province. Individuals are welcome to join as well.

How To Get Involved

Individuals, non-profits and Municipal Councils can join CCN for $25 per year. See Membership to join us!
